Sunday School at Augustana Lutheran Church starts at 8:45 am, September through April. It is open to any child in the community, ages three through 6th grade.
During the hour our Sunday School teachers explore Bible stories and lessons with the children using age based activities, games, and art projects. We encourage the youth to think about each lesson and ask questions as they explore their faith. We sprinkle special activities in throughout the year.
Easter Sunday Games
Building a House of Cans for the Food Bank
Tours of the Augustana's worship space
Two Sundays (during Advent and on Palm Sunday) the Sunday School children sing during worship at the 10:00 am Sunday service.
First Communion is for children in third grade or any child the parents and pastor deem ready to participate in the sacrament of Holy Communion. The children will meet with Pastor Josh during the Sunday School hour for a few weeks leading up to Maundy Thursday. He will go through the significance of Holy Communion and what it means for our faith life. At the end of the month, the children will bake the bread that will be used during Maundy Thursday (when they will take part in their first Holy Communion Sacrament) and Easter Sunday.
Other Youth Events are scheduled throughout the year and include a community Lock In and Summer Family Programming.
